About this calculator
The tip is a percentage of the bill before tax; add it to the bill and divide by the number of people to get each person's share. In the United States, 15–20% is customary for table service, with 20% increasingly the norm for good service.
Customs differ widely elsewhere — in much of Europe a service charge is already included, and in some countries tipping is not expected at all — so adjust the percentage to the local convention.
