New Zealand's GST is 15% on almost everything: a $100 net price carries $15 of GST for a $115 total. To add GST, multiply the net amount by the rate and add the result; to extract GST from an inclusive price, multiply it by 3 and divide by 23.
New Zealand's GST is famously broad — unlike most countries, there are very few exemptions, with even basic food taxed at the full rate. The main exceptions are financial services, residential rent and exports.
