About this calculator

Your weight is the pull of gravity on your body, and every world pulls differently: multiply your Earth weight by the destination's surface gravity relative to Earth's. On the Moon that factor is 0.166, which is why Apollo astronauts bounced; on Jupiter it is 2.36, so you'd struggle to stand.

Because it's a pure ratio, the answer comes out in whatever unit you type in — enter kilograms and read kilograms, enter pounds and read pounds.

Strictly, what stays the same everywhere is your mass — the amount of matter in you. Scales measure the force gravity exerts on that mass, and this calculator shows what a bathroom scale calibrated for each world would read. Two surprises hide in the numbers: Venus and Saturn are close matches for Earth (91–92% of your weight), and despite Uranus and Neptune being giants, their "surface" gravity is near Earth's because you'd float far from most of their mass.

Multiply your Earth weight by the planet's surface gravity relative to Earth. A 70 kg (154 lb) person weighs 11.6 kg (26 lb) on the Moon (× 0.166), 26.5 kg (58 lb) on Mars (× 0.379) and 165.2 kg (364 lb) on Jupiter (× 2.36).

Does my mass change on another planet?

No — mass is the amount of matter in you and is the same everywhere. Weight is the force gravity exerts on that mass, so only weight changes when the gravity does.

Which planet's gravity is closest to Earth's?

Saturn, at about 0.916 of Earth's surface gravity, with Venus just behind at 0.907 — on either, you'd weigh about 9% less than at home. (For gas giants, "surface" means the cloud-top level used for comparison.)
