About this calculator

A "year" is one trip around the Sun, and every planet takes a different time to make it: Mercury races around in 88 Earth days while Neptune needs almost 165 Earth years. Divide your age in Earth years by the planet's orbital period and you get your age in that planet's years.

The results run both ways: a 30-year-old is a 124-year-old Mercurian but not quite 16 in Mars years, and nobody in human history has lived even half a Neptune year.

Only the counting changes — your body ages the same regardless of which world's calendar you use. The orbital periods come from NASA's planetary fact sheet.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate my age on another planet?

Divide your age in Earth years by the planet's orbital period in Earth years. At 30 Earth years old you are 30 ÷ 0.241 ≈ 124.5 Mercury years, 30 ÷ 1.881 ≈ 15.9 Mars years, and 30 ÷ 11.86 ≈ 2.5 Jupiter years old.

Why is my age lower on the outer planets?

The farther a planet orbits from the Sun, the longer its year — Neptune's lasts 164.8 Earth years. Fewer of those long years fit into your lifetime, so the number is smaller even though you've lived exactly as long.

When is my next Mars birthday?

Mars years last 1.881 Earth years (about 687 days), so your Mars birthdays arrive roughly every 22.6 months. Multiply your next whole Mars age by 1.881 to find the Earth age at which it lands.
